History of the DJLamar Show
The DJL Mobile Disc Jockey was created in 1989.
That year I began taking my power wheelchair to people's homes, to provide musical programs for
birthday parties, holiday celebrations and other events.
I decided that people needed a free event at the end of each
month, when we are all short of money. That's when DJLamar's "Last Chance Friday Dance" came into existence. I
found a donated site to hold the dance and created a mailing list of people who told me they would like to know when the dances
would be held. At the dance I put out a donation box so that people can leave a dollar if they have it, to help
pay for transportation for me and my equipment. Over the years the dances have grown in popularity. I now do dances
for Tualatin Hills Park and Rec., the ARC, UCP and the People First Convention on a regular basis. I also do wedding
receptions, holiday and birthday parties and Karaoke.
I
love bringing my music to you. It's great when you get to do what you love for a living! |
